Updates on Munchkin

| | Comments (0)

It's been a while, so I thought I'd update everyone on how Munchkin (and I) are doing. As of this week, I am 36 weeks, or 9 months, along. (One of the greatest misconceptions out there is that pregnancy is 9 months long. In truth, it's actually 10 months long. Yeah, no one told me either...)

As Bill mentioned below, I've been having pretty frequent contractions for a while now. They started about 3 weeks ago and have been pretty consistent at least once an hour. Now they're down to about once every half hour. There are times, though, that they get to be about 10 minutes apart. My doctor says this is fine and normal, but to get plenty of rest. I'm now working from home and telecommuting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which has been a huge help. I'm hoping to work right up until Munchkin arrives.

Also, in the past few days, Munchkin has "dropped" so I'm told to expect him or her any time in the next couple of weeks.

Otherwise, things have been great. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such an easy and healthy pregnancy. Other than being anemic throughout, I have had no problems at all. To be honest, I am so incredibly anxious to meet our little one, but I'm willing to wait however long it takes for him or her to come when ready. That could be tomorrow, or next week, or even past our due date.

Everything else is ready as well. The carseat is installed in the car, the bags are packed, and the nursery is finally complete. We've done a little more on it since the pictures Bill took, and I'm so happy with it. We'll try to put up more pictures soon, but honestly they don't do it justice. It's amazing in person. I had no idea my hubby had such talent!!! :) It will be a wonderful place to which we can bring little Munchkin home.

My next doctor's appointment is Friday so I'll try to give another update then.

Use the "comments" feature below to enter your best guess about what day/time the baby will be born and what the baby's sex will be. I'll ship a free TBS t-shirt to whoever guesses closest to the actual date (even if the closest guess is after the birthday...I don't buy that closest "without going over" crap).

Just to help you make an educated guess: Our original due date was October 26. The doctor moved it twice, and now it is October 2nd. But Alecia has been having contractions every hour, some more severe than others. This baby is definitely anxious to break out (obviously he/she doesn't know how much better off he/she is in the womb).

So click on "Comments" below, and take your best shot!

Last week, I finally got around to painting. This past Thursday, the crib was delivered. Over the weekend, we took one more (expensive) trip to Babies R Us. Finally, the baby's room is complete!

I'm not totally satisfied with the paintings I did. I think they're alright, but they seem sort of weak. They just look too small and plain, and they don't add much life to the tiny, blue room. Anyway, I took some pics of the room. It was hard to capture all of it, since the room is so small and our camera only zooms out so far. But it will give you at least an idea of what the nursery looks like. Click here (or follow the link to the left) to check it out.

Never piss off a pregnant woman.

I took down the rehearsal and pre-wedding pics. Apparently, women who are eight months pregnant don't care to see themselves without makeup. My bad. She apparently doesn't realize that she's the most beautiful woman in the world, even without makeup.

Now can I sleep in the bedroom with you, baby? The couch sucks.

Oops, I had a few pics left.

I forgot that I had a few pics left on the digital camera that I could put up. Okay, maybe I didn't forget. Maybe people threatened to kill me if I posted them. You'll see why if you take a look at them. Click on "Rehearsal and pre-Wedding Pics" to the left... if you dare. There's some pretty scary stuff in there.

We're back!

We got back from Indiana last night around 10pm/et. It was a long trip, but it was worth it. We got to see some good friends and family that we hadn't seen in a long time! Thanks to my parents for throwing the party, and thanks to everyone who showed up at the shower or fiesta. I didn't take many pictures this weekend (I was too busy catching up with people), but I did take a little video. I'll capture some stills from the footage and get them on the site by the end of the week. Check back soon!

Also, I added a few more links to the column on the left. One is the link to our friend Brent's site. He moved from Atlanta to New Zealand to experience a different way of life, and he's definitely missed. Also, if you're going to buy some cosmetics, why not buy them from Sonya? She's practically family! The link to her Mary Kay site is on the left. Finally, I also added an email link just in case someone wants to get in touch, or maybe even send me pictures. That's all for now!

Latest Munchkin News

All is well with Munchkin. I had another doctor's appointment yesterday and our due date was moved... again. Yes, if it keeps going this way, I'll have had the baby yesterday. We started out with a due date of October 22nd. Then it was moved to October 8th. Now it's October 2nd. Let's hope it stays that way for a while.

Munchkin is doing well. LOTS of kicking and I could swear he/she tried to climb out of my stomach "Alien" style last night. Heartbeat is nice and strong and it looks as if everything is just fine. We still don't know the sex of the baby, but random strangers have been making guesses. So far, the votes are leaning in favor of a boy, and Bill and I tend to agree. Not sure why, but we both just have a feeling that it's a boy.

What do you think? Leave your guess in the comments section below.
